White beans with rosemary and olive oil, kamut puffs, open faced sandwich prepared with the butter of peanuts

Uh-oh. The kamut might be losing its charm. I put a pile in front of him this morning as usual while I prepared everything else, but he ate a few, swept a few onto the floor, and left most there. It’s hard not to be sympathetic: they taste like nothing.

The white beans are not breakfast food, I know, but it’s the day before grocery shopping and the cupboard is bare. Plus he is a baby and knows not from breakfast. At any rate, he only ate a few of them before he noticed the peanut butter, and then he ignored everything else.

By the end of the meal, his tray had half-squished beans, torn up white bread, and a few soggy kamut puffs piled up. Those things are all basically the same color and size and (at least when drooled on) consistency, but he can totally distinguish which one he wants to eat. Amazing.
